The following was written for an assignment for a class called "Writing for Target Audiences" in Summer 2021.
Please note there were certain formats and content criteria for this assignment.
In this particular assignment, I had to write copy for an established movie blog site.
Not Okay Trailer: Zoey Deutch plays “Unlikeable Female Protagonist” in New Hulu Film
Deutch stars alongside Dylan O'Brien and Mia Isaac in “Not Okay,” coming July 29, 2022.
Zoey Deutch is seat to star in a new Hulu movie from Searchlight Pictures as a young girl chasing fame in the 21st century. The story follows a girl (played by Deutch; also known for Set it Up (2018), Before I Fall (2017), Why Him? (2016)) who, in the desperate search for fame, fakes a trip to Paris on her social media. After a string of terrorist attacks occurs in real life, her imaginary trip starts to crumble and the lies start to spiral out of control.
The film is written and directed by Quinn Shepherd, an actress turned writer and director after her directorial debut in 2017 with “Blame,” which she wrote, produced, and starred in. Searchlight Pictures, the production company, has released several popular pictures including Slumdog Millionaire (2008), 12 Years a Slave (2013), The Shape of Water (2017), and many more.
In the teaser trailer released near the end of June, the story is set up as a satiric comedy and seems to start in a similar fashion that reminds one of Inventing Anna, where the main events of the movie have already happened, the lies have already been exposed, and the story is told in a way that reflects back on the events in the context of what has happened as a result of them.
Deutch stars alongside Dylan O'Brien (The Maze Runner franchise, American Assassin (2017), Love and Monsters (2020)), Embeth Davitz (Schindler's List(1993), Army of Darkness (1992), Old (2021)), and Nadia Alexander who is best known for several smaller tv appearances, including The Sinner and Seven Seconds.
